The Falderals is a little band with a big sound--two guitars and two voices blended together to create a unique folk-pop fusion. This acoustic singer/songwriter duo has been playing together since they met in the Peace Corps. After years of performing on the streets of Chicago, and shows at smaller venues across the Midwest, they are now based in the Twin Cities.

Lou, the principal songwriter and guitaist/vocalist with the local "Doc Rock" group The Remnants will perform a couple of sets. One with Remnants percussionist Mark Migliori and another set with his son Will.
Will Bartholome began singing and writing songs just after college, and has performed with Lou at two local coffeehouses before heading off for a stint teaching in Thailand, and then working as an embryologist in Washington, DC, for the last three years. This will be his first concert in the Twin Cities since returning here late this summer. He does some covers, notably those of local music fave Mason Jennings, and has developed a warm and personal singing and songwriting style."

It's something of a well-kept secret that Phil Heywood is one of the premier acoustic guitarists working today. His list of achievements includes a stint with internationally renowned guitarist Leo Kottke, who, after hearing Heywood for the first time, promptly asked him to join his tour so the two could play duets. Heywood is a former National Fingerpicking Champion (1986) and winner of the American Fingerstyle Guitar Competition (1987), events judged by some of the genre's top players and performers. He has appeared on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion with guitar legend Chet Atkins, and shared the stage with a host of the best regional, national and international guitarists and songwriters, among them Norman Blake, John Renbourn, Greg Brown, Stephen Fearing, Tim Sparks, Peter Lang, Pat Donohue, Robin and Linda Williams, Dave Ray, and Spider John Koerner.

I'm quiet, I'm simple, I'm loud, I'm complicated. I guess that's how I would describe my performances and songwriting, if such a thing can be described. What I'm drawn towards achieving as a songwriter is that essence of understanding that I feel when listening to my favorites, like Patty Griffin and Lucinda Williams and David Gray and Martin Sexton. I'm always searching for the truth in the lyric and a melody that will cut right through to the heart of it. My guitar playing's kind of sloppy, but I sorta like it like that. |

"Based in Milwaukee, WI, finger-style guitarist and
songwriter Benjamin Kammin has performed extensively
throughout the Midwest. His net of inspirations to
draw upon is cast wide from the raw honesty of Lucinda
Williams to the driving guitar of Leo Kottke and
spacious soundscapes of Michael Hedges. In the brief
moments when his energies are not completely focused
on performing, composing, and exploring the subtle
mysteries of the acoustic guitar, he enjoys a nice hot
cup of coffee."

Katie Sawicki CD Release Concert w/ guest
From her Brooklyn apartment in New York, Katie Sawicki has brought emotion back to urban edge folk. Songs crafted from years on the road, past loves, contemplations of a changing music industry and folk ruminations of the crowded city life define this singersongwriter. Hailed as a "Singstress, Songwriter, lyrical Genius" (Encore Magazine), Sawicki is a self-taught guitarist, quickly making a name for herself. Sawicki is handed down by the influences of Josh Ritter, Jenny Lewis, Ryan Adams, Iron and Wine, and Patty Griffin. In conjunction with a move to the Northwest, Sawicki is releasing her most recent project, Time Spent Lost. This record defines a new kind of indie music. The album blends the roots of contemporary folk with experimental production elements. Each song is testimate to the careful nature in which Sawicki composes and performs. Time Spent Lost is set to be released on March 4th with a national tour to follow in May of 2008.

Trace Bundy must not only be heard, but seen. Listening is one thing, but seeing the fan-dubbed “acoustic ninja” play live, it becomes quite confusing how one man can do that with just two hands and ten fingers — harmonics, right-hand tapping, slapping, percussive, looping, multiple capos, lightning fast picking... you name it. Since Trace hit the road as a full-time touring musician, the exponential growth of his fanbase resulted in sold-out shows with standing ovations at venues across the country and around the world (throughout the US and 11 countries). Video clips of his playing have quickly circulated across the globe, with views of over 2,000,000 on YouTube. Don’t take our word for it, type his name into www.YouTube.com and watch the videos. After all, Trace Bundy must not only be heard, but seen.
